And speaking of books …
Vivian Swift (you might remember some of her genius comments here at FMIF) is the author of When Wanderers Cease to Roam, a stunningly beautiful book about travelling and staying put. Now she graces us with her illustrated travel memoir of France. I am positive that this will go down in herstory as one of the most gorgeous books ever created about France.
“J’adore Vivian Swift—my favorite travel writer, my favorite travel doodler. This book is a little secret pocket of treasure and intimacy. Enjoy every careful and carefree detail!”—Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love
You can order your copy and see the book trailer here. I’m hoping mine will be in my mailbox before I leave for Canada. I live here and I still can’t wait to savour her visual feast of France.
When I first thought of writing a book about France, I took a chance and emailed Vivian, then a stranger to me. She has since become an invaluable source of support, advice and enthusiasm for me every step of the way, so I raise my glass to Vivian and her book, no, her work of art.
So grab your glass of French wine and a flaky, buttery croissant and let Vivian’s words and paintings whisk you across France without liquid restrictions or a full body pat-down. Merci and Felicitations Madame Swift!

I love When Wanderers Cease to Roam. I wonder if our selectors know there’s a new Vivian Swift being released so soon . . .
Thank you for the heads up, Bobbi!
Thank you for the shout-out, Bobbi! I, too, have been finding me in France…only my strategy has been to go looking for moi-meme in twenty road trips over a thirty-five year time line. So I’ve always enjoyed reading about your total immersion experience sooooooo unlike mine! If only I’d been a little more like you…
Hey Finders, the author herself!! Either way, we’ll always have France….
Vivian’s book looks wonderful. The truth is I’d like to find me in France. Any time.
Gorgeous cover!
All my favorite things on the cover — food, wine, shoes, bread. How can I resist?
Yes, that cover is gorgeous!!!
What a gorgeous book. I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Congratulations, Vivian!
I have read Vivian’s blog for years. She has the most interesting life of everyday stuff on Long Island, NY,
Her art work is wonderful. I read the first book,”When Wanderers Cease To Roam”, and loved every page.
The new one is out this week. In fact, I just heard from Barnes & Noble my new order is ready for pick up.
They won’t open til 10 a.m., but I’ll be there to get my book(s). BEST GIFT I CAN GIVE ANYONE. I ordered 12.
Just seeing the cover makes you want to read about France.
I’m heading to my local B & N today to see if they have “Le Road Trip” in stock. The cover is one of the best I’ve ever seen, so the book must be great.
What a gorgeous book. Congrats Vivian!
My only worry is that when my copy comes I am going to forget Italya and scoot back to France.
Congratulations Vivian!
Oooh, I want! :D
